This all new truck is expected to borrow styling cues from both the current Expedition and Suburban.
In an all new, recently announced joint-venture, Ford and General Motors will be working together to create an all new, full size SUV. The rumored name for this vehicle, which will be a combination of the engineering excellence of both companies, is the Expidurban, and it will be sold under both the Chevy and Ford names. Neither company has confirmed whether or not luxury variants will be produced.
The new SUV will be offered in long wheelbase form only, so it will likely be based on the Suburban’s chassis.
Ford says they learned from the Toyobaru twins’ success and plan on using a similar method to produce an estimated 200,000 annual sales for the SUV split between both companies.
What can you expect from this collaboration? This new SUV will take the best aspects of each SUV and combine them, according to a GM representative. This will likely mean the superb powertrain of the Expedition combined with the spectacular interior of the Suburban. As for other parts of the SUV, those are still “up for negotiation.”
We still haven’t received any official images of what the SUV will look like, but expect it at your local dealer by the end of 2017 as a 2018 model.
(By the way, you should probably check the date.)

It would be much cooler if they develop a heavy duty truck based on a Ram platform. So they take the best from the big 3, I’m sure that wouldn’t bother anyone.

So it’ll just be an Expedition then?

The Suburban has a much better interior and is way more practical when it comes to cargo and people space.

I tend to disagree, from the several that I’ve driven it feels extremely cramped and no different than any GM from the past 10 years. The Ford, while pretty much the same as it was 9 years ago, still feels like the nicer place to be to me.
